2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse Review

The 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse has recieved a minor update for the 2009 model year, and it does a great job of seperating the old Mitsubishi Eclipse from the new 2009 Eclipse. The Lancer Evolution like front end of the 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse looks amazing, with a blacked out center section built into the bumpers, and includes the grill up to the headlights. The front bumper of the 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse reminds some of the Audi A4 update. The rear bumper also has been updated. Gone is the portly akward looking rear, replaced with a more streamlined two piece unit with a black lower insert set around the exhaust.

The 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse is availabe in two trims. The first of those is the 2.4 liter inline four equiped Eclipse GS. With either a standard 5 speed manual or an automatic transmission as an umgrade, the 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS produces 162 horsepower at just above 6k rpm. Torque is about the same, just a bit over 160 foot lbs. The 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT is a bit more powerfull. 265 horsepower and 260 ft lbs of torque are fed thru a six speed manual transmission as standard, with a 5 speed auto for those who don’t want to shift their own gears. A 3.8 liter V6 engine builds the power, and it begins at a high 5800 rpms.

Also new for the 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse is a considerably stiffer chassis then in prior years. With four wheel independent suspension working to keep the ride streetable, the stiffer chassis does much to improve handling. Additionally, the 17″ (or 18″ on the 2009 Eclipse GT) wheels and anti lock brakes help slow the 2009 Eclipse down. You can also add such upgrades as heated leather front seats, a 650 watt premium audio system, aluminum pedals, and a climate control system to the 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse.
